DataMotion SecureMail Online Help

Create Message - Options

On the Compose page, select Show Options to display the message options.

Various options are available when creating a DataMotion SecureMail message.  Based on your account type, one or more of the following options may be available to you:

Priority:

Select among Low, Normal and High, Normal is default.  Many email clients will display a special icon or indicator if message priority is marked as Low or High.

Receipt:

To receive an email confirmation for each recipient, mark the checkbox next to "Send email confirmation when this message is securely opened or delivered."

When a recipient receives your DataMotion SecureMail message through their web-based DataMotion SecureMail account, the system will record that the message was opened.  Select whether to receive a receipt of this event as an email message.  It is often useful to uncheck this selection when sending a message to a large number of users.  In this case, the message's tracking in your Track Sent folder will still show which recipients have and have not opened your message.  You will not, however, be burdened with too many email receipts as each recipient opens your email message.

Expiration:

Select from the available periods for the message to stay on the system before it expires.  Once a message is expired, it will be automatically removed from your Track Sent folder, and from the Inbox of all message recipients. The drop-down box right next to the Expiration text will contain all of the available message expiration choices. These choices range from as low as 1 day to as high as 2 years. By default however this option is set to 1 month.

File in folder:

Messages can be filed in the default "Track Sent" folder, or to any folders created under Track Sent.  The drop-down box next to the File In Folder text will contain all of the folders that are available to choose from. If you have created no other folders this drop-down box will only contain the default Track Sent folder.

Password Protect:

Enabling password protection adds another layer of security when recipients open the message. Select the checkbox next to the text "Password protect this message:" and enter a password of your choice that the recipient must enter to open the message. You can also enter an optional Hint for the password which the recipient will be able to see. The password will be case-insensitive.

Restrictions:

If selected the restrictions will make it impossible for a recipient to reply to or forward the message. Selecting both restrictions is possible as well.
